Description

Work includes removing the existing pump and related bowls, line shaft, and column pipe, furnishing testing, furnishing and installing new well pump and appurtenances, complete required set-up and testing, and preparing final report and other necessary items. The existing pump, column piping, shaft piping, discharge piping, and other related equipment for the well shall be salvaged in good condition and turned over to the Owner. Any materials not claimed by the Owner shall be removed and disposed of by the Contractor. All bids must be on the Proposal forms provided in the Specifications (Section V Bidders Proposal). A Cashiers Check drawn on an Alabama bank or a Bidders Bond, payable to South Alabama Utilities for an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the amount bid shall be filed with the proposal, the Bidders Bond being prepared on the form specified and signed by a bonding company authorized to do business in the State of Alabama. A Performance Bond in the form and terms approved by the Owner in an amount not less than the sum of the bid will be required at the signing of the Contract, and in addition, a bond in form and terms approved by the Owner insuring payment for all labor and materials will be required. In addition, the Contractor must furnish at the time of the signing of the Contract a certificate of insurance coverage as provided in the specifications which will include Comprehensive Insurance, Contractors Automobile Liability Insurance, Owners Protective Liability Insurance, or a Comprehensive General and Public Liability policy naming the Owner, Engineer, and their agents and employees as additionally insured, and where applicable, Subcontractors Public Liability and Property Damage Insurance. The right is reserved to reject any and/or all bids and to waive informalities and to furnish any item of material or work to change the amount of said Contract. Liquidated damages for non-compliance of the work within the time limit agreed upon will be assessed in accordance with the terms of the Contract. Each bid must be submitted in a sealed envelope on forms provided in the specifications and shall be clearly marked as bid for: Jail Well Pump Replacement (SAU Bid 22-03). The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any formalities in the bidding. Contractors bidding on this project must hold a current license from the State Licensing Board of General Contractors, Montgomery, Alabama. No bids will be considered unless the bidder, whether resident or non-resident of Alabama, is properly qualified to submit a proposal for this construction in accordance with all applicable laws of the State of Alabama. This shall include evidence of holding a current license from the State Licensing Board for General Contractors, Montgomery, Alabama, as required by Chapter 8 of Title 34, of the Code of Alabama, 1975. In addition, non-residents of the State, if a corporation, shall show evidence of having qualified with the Secretary of State to do business in the State of Alabama. No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of 60 days subsequent to the opening of bids without the consent of the Owner. Contract Time for completion of all work on this project is 90 calendar days
