MPV Properties capped the first phase of its $50 million RedStone development in Indian Land earlier this year. The 310,000-square-foot center, anchored by a Stone Theatres movie complex, is at S.C. Highway 160 and U.S. Highway 521 in northern Lancaster County. The location positions it to cater to the fast-growing communities of Ballantyne, Fort Mill and Sun City. "We felt that the market was missing the entertainment/restaurant concept and felt it had grown to the point of needing this type of project,"says Steve Vermillion, partner with MPV. The project also is positioned to serve the Red Ventures office campus. RedStone melds entertainment and retail with 30 different tenants including restaurants such as Portofino's, Red Rocks and Viva Chicken. There's also a coffee shop, frozen yogurt store, spa and several fast-casual dining options. The project features an open-air town center with green space and fountains. That supports the live-work-play mentality. A second phase will add 200,000 square feet of retail space, with a central lawn to accommodate weekend farmers markets and concerts. Construction could start in 2020 but is contingent on completion of Highway 160 into Red Ventures' campus.
