Bard Hall Code Improvements

Selective abatement and demolition including an existing exterior fire escape, a steel framed mezzanine, non-loadbearing partitions, doors/frames, flooring, miscellaneous finishes, and identified M/E/P items. Provide a new enclosed egress stair, constructed of pile foundations and precast concrete walls and stairs, that will serve the first, second, third, and fourth/roof levels. Creation of 2-hour rated MEP pipe chases within the existing stair enclosure that serves both Bard and Thurston. Increase the partition rating at the first-floor lobby of Bard Hall to provide a 2-hour rating for the discharge of the existing stair that serves both Bard and Thurston. Provide a make-up air unit on the roof to pressurize an existing stair. Firestopping of existing penetrations in rated walls. Provide a second means of egress from Lecture Hall Room 140 directly to the exterior with an exterior landing and stair; includes the replacement of an existing window unit with a window and door unit. Miscellaneous ceiling work to accomplish the work above ceilings. Miscellaneous. spray-on-fireproofing of unprotected steel within Bard Hall. Provide corridor eyewash guards. Provide an automatic sprinkler system throughout the entire Bard Hall, Thurston Hall and identified areas of Kimball Hall to result in a fully sprinklered building. Provide standpipe in new stair and sanitary drain to existing sanitary manhole (for drain riser). Replace existing steel water supply main in Thurston Hall. Replace HVAC controls and air valves in Bard Hall. Replace the existing fire alarm control panel with new for the building, reconnect existing addressable devices, provide some new FA devices and replace non-addressable devices. Provide site modifications and restoration in the areas of work.
