Description

Description of Work. The proposed construction consists of replacing existing stairs, ramp, and canopy with new stairs, platform, canopy, lift, and other miscellaneous items of work. The Town Board reserves the right to reject any or all Bids and to waive technicalities. Unless the Bids are rejected for good cause, award of contract shall be made to the lowest responsible and responsive Bidder. The overall goal of this project is to replace the existing ramp, deteriorated stairs, front entrance door, and building canopy with new components including: Stairs, entrance door, vertical platform lift, canopy that covers the lift and matches the building, lighting in the canopy, and sidewalk adjacent to the revised entrance. The intent is to match the existing building materials and color scheme as much as possible. The existing electrical serving the outside light will power the new light. A separate 20 amp circuit will be extended to power the vertical platform lift and the door. This building serves both the Town offices and the police department. This entrance is the only exterior access to the police department and the Town Meeting Room. The maximum length of time this entrance cannot be used is 30 days from the start of onsite construction. The Town plans to award the bid on October 9, 2023, so that the Contractor may complete the new entrance this fall, if desired. The front entrance and ADA access must be usable for Spring elections and monthly Town meetings on the second Monday of each month. Direct all questions about the meaning or intent of the Contract Documents to Engineer (Telephone 262-492-1462, or email (dsnyder@baxterwoodman.com). Interpretations or clarifications considered necessary by Engineer in response to such questions will be issued by Addendum emailed by the Engineer or the Engineer's designated independent distributor, to all parties recorded by Engineer as having received the Bidding Documents. Questions received less than five (5) business days prior to the Bid Opening, might not be answered.
