Description | Sealed bids are hereby solicited for the construction of 4800 LF of concrete sidewalk, 690 SY of curb ramps and driveway entrances and 206 LF of retaining wall that will provide connectivity intended to fill in the missing links in the sidewalk network adjacent to Sleepy Hollow Road between Columbia Pike and Leesburg Pike. The sidewalk will connect the community to parks, two neighborhood pools, two schools, and transit corridors both north and south of the project limits, and related items. Only firms that have been pre-qualified are eligible to submit bids for this project. Bids received from those who have not been pre-qualified will not be considered. This is a UNIT price Contract. Contract length is 455 calendar days. Attendees shall abide by social distancing guidance provided by DPWES representatives during the bid opening. Please note that bid-room capacity rules will be respected, and all those arriving to witness this event may not be allowed inside the bid-room. This event shall conclude immediately following the opening of the bid packages. All bidders shall comply with Article A-21, Fairfax County Construction Safety Resolution. Bidders request for determination of eligibility to bid must be received by the County no later than fourteen (14) days before bids are due in accordance to Article A-18.E of Section A, Information For Bidders. All questions concerning the project shall be submitted in writing to the Director, Utilities Design & Construction Division, Department of Public Works and Environmental Services, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Suite 463, Fairfax, VA 22035-0056, or by emailing DPWESCAPUDCDTransportationInquiry@fairfaxcounty.gov, and to be given consideration, questions must be received at least seven (7) days prior to the date fixed for the opening of the bids. This office is the only point where information will be disseminated. Bid Security must accompany each proposal in accordance with Information for Bidders. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days after the opening thereof. The procedure specified under Section 2.2-4330(A) (i), VA Code Ann. shall apply: . . . the bidder shall give notice in writing of his claim of right to withdraw his bid within two (2) business days after the conclusion of the bid opening procedure; . . .. The Board of Supervisors of Fairfax County, Virginia reserves the right to reject any and all bids, waive informalities and irregularities in bidding and to accept bids which are considered to be in the best interest of the County.
