Description

Moveable, mechanically assisted records storage unit to hold state files. Storage systems should be manufactured and installed in an area that measures 28 feet by 6 feet. The system will contain as many floating shelves as possible within the specified area. The shelves should be 6 feet tall, constructed with powder coated steel. Each shelf should be double sided, with backstops and be slotted so that panels can be added to keep records upright. Shelves should be spaced so that top tab file labels can be read and accessed. The two end shelves should be single sided and stationary with the same slotted panels to keep records upright. The center shelf should be stationary to allow for two people to search for records on either side at the same time. The file access areas on each side should be between 24 and 30 inches to allow for file removal and replacement. Top panels should be made of a clear material to allow maximum visibility with current overhead lighting. The systems should have three spoke handles with rotating knobs to ensure easy movement for gliding shelves. These handles should be mounted just above the center of (each gliding shelf) the end panels. Floor mounted tracks should be affixed to the floor and level to ensure shelves do not float when not in operation. Shelves should move smoothly without binding. The drive system should ensure that the mechanically assisted drive minimizes end play and eliminates end play in the drive handle.
