Description

Town Hall front entry replacement. The front entry stairs and ramp will be removed, and a new set of stairs, ramp and landing will be installed with some changes to the existing footprint. The Goal is to create a safe, and ADA compliant entry way. This project will NOT include the entry door that will inevitably need to be updated to be fully ADA compliant. Demo- The contractor shall visibly mark the area under construction, as to prevent any foot traffic from attempting to cross into the "work zone" while construction is underway. The contractor shall keep the work area clean and reasonably free of hazards during construction. The contractor shall remove the existing front entry, as well as the decking from under the front overhang next to the entry door, Including the protruding structure of the deck, landing, ramp, stairs, and any granite or concrete found below and dispose of the material appropriately in necessary dumpsters and remove from site. Framing and footprint- The contractor shall construct a new 6'x10' deck/landing at the existing floor height. Framing shall be constructed out of pressure treated lumber. The contractor shall construct one set of stairs at the driveway side of the entry. Stairs will be 6' wide, with appropriate handrails and guardrails on each side of the stairs. The contractor shall construct an ADA compliant ramp. The ramp will be constructed to start at the opposite end of the main platform headed away from the stairs at first, then the ramp will turn 180 degrees and end at the driveway as close as possible to the new front entry. There shall be two 90 degree turns in the ramp, and each turn shall have an appropriate ADA compliant landing. The ramp footprint shall be extended into the yard away from the parking lot as much as necessary to keep the appropriate ramp slope. The lowest part of the ramp shall end at the parking lot shall not extend past the stairs to the front entry. The following ADA criteria shall be met for the ramp construction: Expected start date for this project should be no later that September 12, 2022 with a completion date within two weeks of start of work. Questions should be addressed to Laura Bernard, l.bernard@newbostonnh.gov or by calling (603) 487-2500 X161 Town Reservation of Rights: The Town of New Boston reserves the right to reject any and all proposals and waive any minor of non-material informality if deemed to be in its best interests.
