Description | 1. All existing roofing, felt and/or rosin papers shall be fully removed to the existing sheathing and properly disposed of. 2. All existing sheathing shall be inspected for deterioration and if deterioration is identified such sheathing shall be replaced in-kind matching that of the deteriorated original material utilizing the same type, size and species of materials. 3. Sheathing material at eave overhangs, if deteriorated, shall match that of the original beaded material and shall be installed aligning the beaded material with adjacent original materials. All sheathing joints ends shall fall on the middle of the roof rafters. 4. All new sheathing materials installed at the overhanging eaves, if any, shall be fully primed and painted with two top coats before installation. All end grain shall be fully sealed and primed before installation. A premium quality alkyd primer shall be installed followed by two top coats of a premium latex paint matching the color of the adjacent materials. 5. All existing sheathing board fasteners/nails shall be reset to insure that sheathing is fully secure and so that nails do not ‘workup’ and penetrate the new felt paper/shingles during installation. 6. Ice & water shield self-adhered roofing underlayment shall be installed at the entirety of the perimeter of the roof. 7. Starter shingles shall be installed at all perimeters of the roof. 8. New 30 lb. asphalt felt shall be installed utilizing button cap nails and nailed at the bottom edge approximately every 16” and every 32” in the center. Overlap felt at top approximately 3”. Ends shall lap over felt approximately 18” and cut shall be at an angle and not square. On hips, felt shall lap over hip in an alternating fashion. Felt shall be installed first in valley and then field felt applied. Ridge felt shall be installed last. 9. No ‘staples’ shall be used in the installation of the felt or shingle materials. 10. Shingles shall be a 30 year, tree-tab shingle matching the existing in color to the greatest extent possible |
