Description

As of June 8, 2023, an architect has been selected. Advertisement for bidding is anticipated to occur in June 2024. A timeline for construction has yet to be announced. $23,000,000 has been approved for the Countys share of a joint developmental project between Fairfax County and the Town of Vienna for a replacement Library and additional parking structures for the library and the Town. Patrick Henry Community Library is one of the busiest community locations in the library system, operating at a level of a small regional library. Upgrades are required to building systems and infrastructure that are well beyond the end of their life cycle and to meet current and future operational needs of the Library System. The building is one of the oldest, resulting in an antiquated layout that does not adequately reflect modern library design and usage. Based on the age and condition of the facility, it is difficult to make significant changes to the overall layout or outfit the facility with the infrastructure required to support the technology requested by library customers. This project was approved as part of the 2020 Library Bond Referendum. This project is further referenced in the Libraries section of the CIP. Project is in Fairfax County FY 2023-27 CIP *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
