Description

The project consists of the demolition of existing buildings at 302, 304, 306, 307 and 309 Lincolnway and at 58 Jefferson Street. Contractors shall familiarize themselves with the field conditions and locations in preparation of their bids. Within their submittal, Bidders must demonstrate experience in the demolition of the type of facilities for which a bid is submitted. Asbestos and hazardous materials inspections have been completed for each building. Proposals shall be properly and completely executed on the Bid Form, and must be accompanied by an executed Indiana State Board of Accounts Form 96, confirmation that copies of Addenda were received (if issued), and satisfactory bid security. A certified or cashier's check payable to the City of Valparaiso or a bid bond in an amount equal to five (5) percent of the bid amount must accompany each bid. All checks of unsuccessful bidders shall be returned to them by the City upon selection of successful bidder. The successful Bidder will be required to provide a Performance and Payment Bond each in the amount of one hundred (100) percent of the Contract amount. Pursuant to Indiana Code 22-5-1.7-11, the Contractor entering into a contract with the City of Valparaiso is required to enroll in and verify the work eligibility status of all of its newly hired employees through the E-Verify program. The Contractor is not required to verify the work eligibility status of all its newly hired employees through the E-Verify program if the E-Verify program no longer exists. Pursuant to Indiana Code 5-22-16.5 the City of Valparaiso may not contract with a person who is engaged in investment activities in Iran. Pursuant to Ordinance 6-2016, the City has adopted certain responsible bidding practices. The Contractor shall provide all required material with its Bid documents and comply with all other provisions. In determining the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, the City of Valparaiso will consider the Total Base Bid made for each package. The City of Valparaiso may also consider all other relevant facts mentioned in the Project Documents or which the City of Valparaiso may legally consider. The Board of Public Works and Safety reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to waive any informalities in the bidding, should the Board deem it to be in the public interest to do so. Authorized and published by the authority of the City of Valparaiso, Indiana acting by and through its Board of Public Works and Safety.
