Description

To provide mowing, trimming, and lawn care maintenance at the Town Office located at 493 Hope Road, the Center Fire Station at 470 Camden Road, the Beach Fire Station at 5 Overlook Road, Penobscot Park (2817 Atlantic Highway) and the Town’s harbor facilities (McKay Road), as per the bid specifications for the period beginning at contract award (tentatively set for March 28, 2022) and continuing to through the growing season and fall cleanup. Town Office (493 Hope Road): Accomplish all work outlined below either during daylight hours on the weekends, or before 8:30AM or after 5:00PM during the weekdays. The Contractor agrees to do a “Spring Clean-up” of the area. Clean up includes removal of any tree limbs or brush damaged or fallen during the winter and the raking of the grass areas needed to remove excess sand, trash, and other debris prior to the first mowing. The clean up and disposal of tree branches may also be required in subsequent mowing. The contractor will be responsible to mow the grass around the Town Office to the same limits as previous years including the front lawn area, side lawns to the woods/heavy undergrowth and/or the “line” between the Town Office and Post Office, and rear of building to the tree line including the area of the septic field. Mowing will begin on or about April 24th and continue until on or about November 18th each year or until mowing is no longer required. All grass will be mowed at a height of three inches (3”), but in no case will the maximum height exceed four inches (4”). Mowing will take place during any portion of the year when the grass is at or above the 4-inch maximum. All clippings must be raked or vacuumed, removed from the property, and disposed of properly. The contractor will also string-trim all areas requiring such, including trim but not limited to around bicycle rack, parking lots, sidewalks, garden beds, monuments, trees, picnic table, generator, fencing, fuel tanks, and the building itself. By no later than May 25th, cleanup and re-mulch three ornamental trees in front of building. Remove all leaves and pine needles from work areas as necessary through the contract term, to include the fall, to present a neat and clean appearance. All trash discovered upon the grounds will be picked up and disposed of properly. Center Fire Station (470 Camden Road): Accomplish all work outlined below during daylight hours. Harbor Facilities (McKay Road): At boat launching ramp (off McKay Road) mow and/or string trim weekly the areas 1) between beach/launching ramp/McKay Road/harbor Users parking signs and 2) adjacent to the state ferry parking lot on the ocean side of the lot between the generator and the beach access near the overhead light pole to a width of approximately 4 feet. Penobscot Park (2817 Atlantic Highway): Accomplish all work outlined below during daylight hours. No Sunday work before 9am is allowed. The Contractor agrees to do a “Spring Clean-up” of the area. Clean up includes removal of any tree limbs or brush damaged or fallen during the winter and the raking of the grass areas needed to remove excess sand, trash, and other debris prior to the first mowing. The clean up and disposal of tree branches may also be required in subsequent mowing. The contractor will be responsible to mow all areas identified in this request for proposal. Field mowing/bush hogging is not included in this contract. Mowing will begin on or about April 24th and continue until on or about November 18th each year or until mowing is no longer required. All grass will be mowed at a height of three inches (3”), but in no case will the maximum height exceed four inches (4”). All trash discovered upon the grounds will be picked up and disposed of properly. For approximate limits see aerial photo on next page. Descriptions of areas as follows: A. Main lawn area – bounded to the north by property line, to the west by fence line, to the south by bank at shore, and to the east by tree line B. Smaller lawn area – bounded to the north, east and west by tree line, bounded to the south by back at shore C. Septic field lawn area – bounded on all sides by tree line D. Parking area – perimeter of parking area, bounded by tree or brush line E. Access way – both sides to greatest extent practical F. Pathways connecting lawn areas – both locations to the greatest extent practical G. Entrance – both sides of entrance, bounded by property line to the west, roadway to the north, to guardrail to the east and tree line or parking lot to the south. H. Steps to shore – both sides of steps to shore to maintain clear access
