Construction Manager and General Contractor - Replacement of Bridge on Sr 54 Lighthouse Road

The Replacement of Bridge 3-437 on SR 54 Lighthouse Road project was initiated in 2019 to address the increasing deterioration of Bridge 3-437. The project purpose is to provide structural improvements that promote longevity of the bridge, minimize future maintenance, and improve safety to the traveling public while preserving mobility for local residents and businesses. ore specifically, the replacement of Bridge 3-437 was initiated to address severe deterioration of the existing structure. Bridge 3-437 was listed as 75th on DelDOT’s Bridge Deficiency List in 2020 and currently has a sufficiency rating of 41.0. After evaluating potential design options, it was deemed that rehabilitation was not cost effective and traditional replacement techniques would create excessive impacts to the traveling public. As such, DelDOT has opted to utilize accelerated bridge construction (ABC) techniques in order to provide a safe solution while also minimizing traffic impacts
