Description

Currently the City does not have a designated downtown. The City's General Plan is currently being updated and will include a designation for prospective downtown areas within the City. The growth of Saratoga Springs over the last five years and the anticipated future growth necessitate the economic and amenity benefits that a downtown area will provide, including incorporating the City's vision and goals related to land use, transportation, parks, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, open space, and more. The City's recently-updated and approved Parks, Recreation, Trails and Open Space Master Plan and Transportation Master Plans, contain important changes related to providing a gateway for a downtown plan. The City has a need to remain proactive in undertaking additional planning efforts that will direct the implementation of a comprehensive downtown plan. This downtown plan needs to encourage stakeholders to partner with the City to increase economic growth and provide sustainable and attractive services and amenities in a concentrated area in accordance with the City's updated vision with the recently-updated General Plan.
