Description

The project is best described as a rail–to-trail conversion and creation of a new multi-use recreational trail. More-specifically, the project will improve the northernmost section of the 38-mile D&H Rail-Trail between Brandt and the New York State border in Susquehanna County. The trail will be used for non-motorized recreation like hiking, biking, dog-walking, bird-watching, and nature study; however, registered snow mobiles are allowed usage in the winter. The trail will also connect to Luciana Park, the Starrucca Viaduct and the Cascade Wye, which are existing recreation and historic areas. Trail heads are proposed at these areas. Trail improvements on this 5.124-mile section will include drainage improvements, resurfacing with TSA, access control gate, safe crossings and regulatory signage. Road Crossings are required at SR-1009 at King Hill Road, Viaduct Street (SR-1009), and North Main Street (SR-1015). A few smaller farm roads and township access points will also be crossed. Existing swales and culvert pipes will be cleaned and additional cross pipes are proposed. The trail surface will be crowned or sloped to provide positive drainage and promote sheet flow to already vegetated areas abutting the trail for dissipation or to side swales for conveyance. In a few areas where the existing rail grade is entrenched, portions of the earthen berms abutting the trail will be cut to allow for drainage. Additionally, the trail will be relocated in Jefferson Junction to move further away from Starrucca Creek and increase trail sustainability. The proposed trail will have a compacted tread comprised of mixed aggregate (Trail Surface Aggregate – TSA) that achieves very high densities able to withstand traffic and erosion better that traditional aggregates. All crossing areas and barrier gate locations, as well as the steeper grade extending from the North Main Street Crossing, will have an asphalt trail surface to provide sustainable surfacing and an ability to install paint for enhanced safety. 0201-0001lump Sum1.000 01na Clearing And Grubbing 0202-0001lump Sum1.000 01nb Demolition 0203-0001cubic Yard7,231.000 01nc Class 1 Excavation 0204-0001cubic Yard2,105.000 01nc1, h Class 2 Excavation 0204-0150cubic Yard375.000 01nc1, h, s Class 4 Excavation 0205-0001cubic Yard1,107.000 01nc1 Common Borrow Excavation 0212-0014square Yard2,183.000 01nc3, h, m2 Geotextile, Class 4, Type a 0313-0320square Yard3,406.000 01ne Superpave Asphalt Mixture Design, Base Course, Pg 64s-22, < 0.3 Million Esals, 25.0 Mm Mix, 3" Depth 0350-0104square Yard31,210.000 01nc, e Subbase 4" Depth (No. 2a) 0350-0106square Yard646.000 01nc, e Subbase 6" Depth (No. 2a) 0413-0195square Yard3,508.000 01nf Superpave Asphalt Mixture Design, Wearing Course, Pg 64s-22, < 0.3 Million Esals, 9.5 Mm Mix, 1 1/2" Depth, Srl-l 0601-0351linear Foot131.000 01nh 12" Thermoplastic Pipe, Group Iii, 8`-2` Fill 0601-0352linear Foot462.000 01nh 15" Thermoplastic Pipe, Group Iii, 8`-2` Fill 0601-0353linear Foot33.000 01nh 18" Thermoplastic Pipe, Group Iii, 8`-2` Fill 0601-5901linear Foot559.000 01nh1 Cleaning Existing Pipe Culverts, Diameters Up To And Including 36" 0601-5902linear Foot57.000 01nh1 Cleaning Existing Pipe Culverts, Diameters Over 36" 0601-7005linear Foot22.000 01nh 12" Reinforced Concrete Pipe, Type a, 30` - 1.5` Fill 0601-7010linear Foot50.000 01nh 15" Reinforced Concrete Pipe, Type a, 30` - 1.5` Fill 0605-2600each46.000 01nk Type d Endwall 0605-2630each6.000 01nk Type e-s Endwall 0608-0001lump Sum1.000 01nx Mobilization 0609-0008lump Sum1.000 02nx Inspector`s Field Office And Inspection Facilities, Type c 0609-0009lump Sum1.000 02nx Equipment Package 0686-0010lump Sum1.000 01nx Construction Surveying, Type a 0688-0020lump Sum1.000 02nx Microcomputer, Type c 0695-0004square Foot160.000 01nk Detectable Warning Surface, Polymer Composite 0703-0020cubic Yard306.000 01nc1, h No. 1 Coarse Aggregate 0703-0025cubic Yard7.000 01nc1, h No. 57 Coarse Aggregate 0803-0002cubic Yard3,400.000 01nc1, m Placing Stockpiled Topsoil Mixture 0804-0001pound801.000 01nm3 Seeding And Soil Supplements - Formula b, Including Mulch 0804-0006pound27.000 01nm3 Seeding And Soil Supplements - Formula l, Including Mulch 0806-0112square Yard15,254.000 01nm2 Temporary Short-Term, Rolled Erosion Control Product, Type 2c 0811-0003linear Foot1,590.000 01nj2, m Temporary Protective Fence 0850-0021square Yard140.000 01nc1 Rock, Class r-3 0850-0022square Yard86.000 01nc1 Rock, Class r-4 0850-0023square Yard259.000 01nc1 Rock, Class r-5 0867-0012linear Foot2,559.000 01nm2 Compost Filter Sock, 12" Diameter 0901-0001lump Sum1.000 01nq Maintenance And Protection Of Traffic During Construction 0931-0001square Foot208.000 01nr Post Mounted Signs, Type b 0935-0001square Foot99.000 01nr Post Mounted Signs, Type f 0941-0001each1.000 01nr Reset Post Mounted Signs, Type b 0960-0021linear Foot346.000 01no2 24" White Hot Thermoplastic Pavement Markings 1001-1120cubic Yard19.000 01ns2 Class a Cement Concrete 9000-0001square Yard27,598.000 01nc1proj Trail Surface Aggregate, 4" Depth 9000-0004square Yard594.000 01nc1proj Driving Surface Aggregate, 6" Depth 9000-0020each5.000 01nzzproj 14` Wide Tubular Metal Gate 9000-0021each2.000 01nj2proj Gate Assessment & Repair 9000-0025each3.000 01nj2proj 10` Wide Barrier Gate 9000-0030linear Foot5,212.000 01nj2proj Wood Fence 9000-0055linear Foot38.000 01ns2, s4proj Rehabilitation Of Existing Culvert 9000-0700linear Foot22.000 01nhproj 8" Corrugated Polyethylene (Pe) Culvert Pipe 7`-1` Fill 9000-1000linear Foot66.000 01nhproj 10" Corrugated Polyethylene (Pe) Culvert Pipe 7`-1` Fill 9000-1001each7.000 01nc1proj Boulder Installation 9000-1111each85.000 01nm2proj Ditch Check
