Description

VA New Jersey Healthcare System 385 Tremont Avenue East Orange, New Jersey 07018 1. Background: Currently Bldg. 1 D-wing floors A through 5 have low pressure condensate return risers that are leaking. The leaking sections need to be removed and replaced. Currently Radiation Oncology s steam risers are inactive, and an alternate steam riser(s) are needed. 2. Scope of Work: Contractor shall furnish all labor and materials to provide complete scope of work for Bldg.1 steam supply and condensate return risers in accordance with VA specifications for the VA NJ Health Care System, East Orange, NJ. 3. Statement of Objectives: Partial replacement of a low-pressure steam condensate return risers Installation of new medium-pressure supply and return. 4. Required Results: Bldg. 1 A level-3rd floor replacement of leaking low pressure condensate return risers. Bldg.1 B level A level installation of new MPS/MPR for Radiation Oncology. Work shall include but not be limited to removal of existing steam condensate return piping originating in the A level file rm. (A-250) crawlspace and terminate in the existential space above the museum ceiling (2nd Floor Elevation). Remove and dispose of approximately 120LF of 1 1/4 and 60LF of 1 schedule 40 black pipe, associated fittings and insulation. Furnish and install approximately 120LF of 1 ¼ and 60LF of 1 schedule 80 pipe. Schedule 40 for all associated fittings. Approximately 120 LF of insulation for 1 ¼ IPS piping and 60LF of insulation for of 1 IPS piping. Piping locations sometimes runs adjacent to or near existing piping or modified locations. Routing to be determined by contractor. Will require core drilling in multiple locations up to ten locations. May require scaffolding or platform work to accomplish tasks (to be determined by contractor). Paint exposed piping and insulation in museum flat black to blend into exhibit background. Fabricate any soffits or pipe chases needed to enclose said piping. Furnish and install approximately 180LF of 1 ¼ Medium Pressure Steam Schedule 40 pipe and 180LF of Medium Pressure Condensate Return 1 schedule 80 pipe. Schedule 40 for all associated fittings. Approximately 180 LF of insulation for 1 ¼ IPS piping and 180LF of insulation for of 1 IPS piping. Tie into existing 4 MPS Supply and 3 Return located on B-Level Shaft #5 and termination in A-level Mechanical room A-236E. Pipe routing to be determined by contractor. Immediately after receiving the contract award, the Contractor shall; Provide all necessary Labor, Material and equipment to perform the required work to provide fully functional system. Re-commission the system and prepare for system reactivation. Repair/replace piping insulation and provide ID/ labeling as necessary to replace original ID/Labeling. 5.
