| Description | Remove and properly dispose asbestos-containing materials and other hazardous materials from the thirty (30) Belle Isle Zoo buildings to prepare the buildings for future demolition or reuse. Asbestos abatement consists of floor tile and mastic, window glaze and door caulks/glaze in five (5) of the buildings. Hazardous materials removal includes removal of suspect polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) light ballasts; mercury containing fluorescent light tubes, halogen light and HID lamps; evacuation of fire suppression system and coolants associated with air-handling units, window air-conditioning units and refrigerators; exit signs; smoke detectors; petroleum based tires and hydraulic door closures; television and stored chemicals. |
