Description | Project Location: CM Herndon Park 511 Scott King Road Durham, NC 27713. Twin Lakes Park 439 Chandler Road Durham, NC 27703. Both fields need comprehensive synthetic turf maintenance through the use of specialty maintenance equipment by trained maintenance professionals. The following actions must be performed at each field: 1. Remove the soccer goals from the field and secure them to the field fence during the project duration. Replace goals at the end of the project. 2. Assess the field surface, especially heavy wear areas. 3. Identify weak or loose seams and inlays, and repair the damage. 4. Decompact the infill, only using equipment specially designed to decompact and create loft in the infilled synthetic turf system, to improve shock absorption and synthetic turf drainage (e.g. deep metal spring tines). 5. Deep clean the infill and fields, using special equipment that combines mechanical brushing, suction, and an infill return system to remove surface debris and embedded contaminants. 6. Use a magnet attached to the maintenance equipment to remove screw, nails or staples from the field. 7. Remove the infill, as necessary, to get rid of embedded foreign matter that has contaminated the infill system, relieve grass fibers that may be trapped in the infill, or improve drainage. 8. Measure infill depth on a grid pattern, and add and level infill as needed to return the surface to optimum playability. Brush fibers upright after infill is leveled. 9. Check impact attenuation (Gmax) at the end of the project and report results to DPR. |
