Overhead to Underground Distribution Improvements

The Specification provides for furnishing all labor and equipment required to replace, transfer, upgrading where necessary, or remove, existing overhead primary and secondary distribution facilities in a portion of downtown Henderson. The present facilities, located within a city block bounded by Second, Third, Main and Elm Streets are overhead and require extensive repair and maintenance due to age and location. Placement of new underground primary and secondary facilities includes but is limited to: 4 (2 each of three phase and single phase) pad mount transformers, approximately 0.4 mile of UG primary, 2600’ of UG secondary (various sizes), secondary junction boxes, primary switch cabinet, installing approximately 25 meter bases (3 of which are current rated), replacing or refeeding 14 area lights, some with new wood poles, conduit raceways and splice boxes for certain fiber communications (both existing and planned) and other items as shown on accompanying drawings. This will be accomplished using Owner-furnished construction materials. Availability and access to material will be coordinated through Owner designated representatives. All existing electrical services, (many of which are commercial in nature) are to be worked as energized and active. Interruption of service is to be minimized by scheduling service changes around customer peak usage days and hours. The design criteria call for the reuse of existing service entrance conductors from the load side lugs of meter bases being installed or left in place, leaving building interior wiring untouched.
