Description

The Hindley, Holmes and Royle Building Committee (HHRBC) is seeking to engage a Construction Manager for pre-construction services (in for coordination with the Architect) and the construction phase of the project for additions and alterations to Hindley, Holmes and Royle Elementary Schools in Darien, Connecticut. The HHRBC will engage a Construction Manager to serve as Constructor and the Construction Manager At Risk. Questions regarding this Request for Qualifications should be directed only to: TownAdministrator@darienct.gov Attn: HHRBC Committee The Hindley, Holmes and Royle Elementary Schools currently utilize portable classroom buildings for music and other educational spaces. The buildings all have steam heating systems with components that date back 70-80 years. The buildings have limited ventilation and none of the buildings have central HVAC. The existing libraries are undersized or poorly configured. Hindley and Royle have undersized classrooms in the original buildings. The Board of Education, after completion of a master plan done by KG&D Architects in 2016, a subsequent study of the buildings by Northeast Collaborative Architects in 2021 and the Education Specifications (available on line) and with subsequent analysis has determined that alterations, renovations and expansion are needed at each location. The existing schools must remain functional until the projects have been completed. The combined project cost is estimated to be $55-$65 million in total. Construction is expected to be completed by August, 2024.
