Description | The project work will include regrading a large headcut in an existing uranium waste rock pile near the Prayer 9 (3 Jacks) mine site. The steep slopes created by the erosion of the waste rock pile will be reduced by excavating the western edge of the headcut and blending the material against the existing waste rock pile. The existing waste rock pile will be regraded to reduce slope steepness and create water dissipating features. The site will be roughened and revegetated with soil amendments and native seed to further stabilize the waste rock pile and any disturbed areas. A storm water runoff interceptor ditch was excavated upslope of the pile in April 2021 to divert stormwater runoff. The project is located along Montrose County Road Y1, eighteen miles from Paradox, Colorado via Colorado Highway 90 and Utah Highway 46. Travel 2.3 miles from the Utah Border turn left (west) on Montrose County Colorado Rd. Y1, continue on Y1 for 4.5 miles to site. |
