Description

1. The construction of Phase 2 will include all interior work to create a complete and functioning system as outlined in the drawings. Work will include the extension of piping from the Phase 1 work to newly installed fan coil units (FCUs) that will be provided by Virginia Tech and installed by the awarded contractor, modifications to the duct work, an addition of electrical work to accommodate the new FCUs, the installation of roof top units (RTUs) provided by Virginia Tech, and all miscellaneous items to create a complete and functioning system as outlined in the drawings. 2. All bidders are to include a schedule outlining their proposed methodology to meet the project start and finish date. The finish date noted in this RFP is for final completion. No single task on the schedule is to exceed 14 days in length. The preferred method for scheduling is Microsoft Project, but other formats will be considered. 3. Mechanical Units: Virginia Tech has worked with Shultz and James to procure the Whalen, Carrier, and Innovent units prior to this RFP to ensure a timely delivery for the overall success of the project. The awarded contractor will be responsible for coordinating with S&J and receiving, storing, and installing all equipment procured by Virginia Tech. An area on campus will be provided to the contractor to store any equipment that arrives early, but it will be the contractor’s responsibility to maintain that equipment up until and through install.
