Cafeteria Hood Ventilation Systems Clean, Inspect and Repair

Provide services for the cleaning, inspection and repair of the District’s cafeteria hood ventilation systems, in order to provide protection from loss of life and property from fire and explosion, in accordance with the most current NFPA 96 Standards for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations. Contractor shall include unit price for the cleaning, inspection and repair of the cafeteria hood ventilation systems and define a percentage discount or mark-up for materials purchased for repairs. Contractor shall verify each project and provide the Maintenance Services Department designee an estimate on each repair project. All of the District’s cafeteria hood ventilation systems shall be cleaned and inspected semiannually, based on NFPA standards, unless requested by the District. The District has forty-nine (49) elementary schools and twenty (20) middle schools with each having one (1) hood over the cooking area. There are two (2) middle schools and fifteen (15) high schools that have two (2) hoods over the cooking areas. The District also has two (2) technical schools with culinary arts programs and one (1) snack bar, located at LCPEC, each of which have one (1) hood. The use of subcontractors shall not be permitted without prior written approval of the Director of Maintenance Services or designee. Contractor must possess an (IKECA) International Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning Association certification, a State of Florida Business License, and include copies in their proposal response.
