Wayne Community School District - 2023 Bond

As of March 31, 2023, an architect and general contractor have been selected. The bond issued in Wayne County was passed by voters in 2023. Whether sub-contracting will be needed has yet to be determined. A firm timeline for construction has not been established. The closed solicitation has been included below for reference. The scope of includes a new PK-2nd grade building allows for more quality learning opportunities at all levels with reduced class sizes and opening up space at the elementary building. The new facility will also allow the district to provide safer and more accessible buildings for all students in grades PK-6th, including a tornado shelter at the PK-2 building, less congested drop-off/pick-up routes at both facilities, and better parking, new and updated science labs and additional classroom space will allow the district to continue to meet the needs of the growing student population and provide an expanded curriculum. Also proposed are updates to the stage, seating, and technology in Haun Lecture Hall, expanding and renovating the ag classroom will help prepare students for jobs in the state’s agriculture industry, which provides 1 out of every 4 jobs in Nebraska, expansion of the current strength and fitness facility to incorporate strength and conditioning as well as a wrestling practice area and paving the current graveled parking lot south of the high school, improving safety and overall traffic flow.
