Provides Request for Information (RFI) Responses Solicitation Number: N4008523B2500 Project Title: Elevated Walkway Soffit Repairs (Building 1362 to Building 446) (Naval Station Newport, Newport, RI) Location: Naval Station Newport, Newport, Rhode Island 02841 Solicitation issued as an Invitation for Bid (IFB) using Simplified Acquisition Procedures and 100% Total Small Business Set-Aside. The project consists of Base Bid only. The Government shall award contract to the lowest price, responsive, and responsive bidder. All documents for the solicitation available at https://beta.sam.gov. Description of Work: Naval Station Newport has a requirement to repair the elevated walkway (bridge) soffit that spans between Building 1362 and Building 446. This project consist of the following work to be done on the soffit of the elevated walkway that spans between Building 1362 and Building 446. The area of responsibility is between the steel truss towers (See Enclosure 2): 1) Remove the existing suspended soffit under the elevated walkway. The existing soffit consists of metal slats and/or wood panels. 2) Provide and install new aluminum interlocking slat panels as needed to replace all of the soffit that was removed. a. The length of the elevated walkway bridge between steel truss towers is 93'-4-1/2". b. The length (soffit width) of the new aluminum slat panels shall be 8'-0" +/-. c. The new slat panels shall be heavy gauge aluminum interlocking slats panels designed to prevent damage from high wind, shall match the existing slat panels in style and color to the greatest extent possible, and may be painted or have a factory installed finish. Enclosure 3 provides an example of the type of aluminum slat panels that are preferred, but it would be acceptable if a better match can be found. d. Provide a cut sheet to the Contracting Officers' representative (COR) as a submittal forapproval before making any purchases. 3) Replace the existing sheet metal aluminum angle that support the existing aluminum slat panels on each end with new solid aluminum angles. If possible provide mid-span support for the new aluminum slat panels by any practical means necessary. (See Enclosure 2 for reference.) 4) Prepare and paint the exposed steel beams and trim on the underside of the elevated walkway to match the existing color and to match the color of the new aluminum slat panels. a. New slats to be installed shall be aluminum interlocking slats in such a manner as to prevent wind from moving them. See spec sheet for new aluminum slats to be provided.
