Description | Project consists of modifications to the existing AHU-3 system to improve the ventilation and indoor air quality in Building 860 as follows: Sheet Metal Shop: Existing AHU-3 supply duct and related FTU’s serving the room should be removed. After removal from the AHU-3 system, this shop should be provided with a new dedicated single zone chilled water air handler located overhead on floor mounted in the same room, and a new wall mounted exhaust fan. The control system should be modified to provide the code required exhaust rate of 0.5 cfm/sf during occupied times, and 100% recirculation during unoccupied times. Transfer grilles to adjacent spaces should be permanently sealed to isolate the room from other spaces. The new air handler should be connected to the existing chilled water mains in the overhead space above the room. Prop & Rotor Shop / Hydraulic Shop: This room is located in the center of the existing AHU-3 system, and should be disconnected from AHU-3. Existing AHU-3 supply duct should be patched and reused to serve other areas beyond the shop. The FTU’s serving the room and related FTU ductwork should be removed. The fire damper at the return duct open should be repaired, and the return duct should be extended to pass through the room and serve other areas. The new air handler should be connected to the existing chilled water mains serving the AHU-3 mechanical room. |
