Description

Carpet Area - 1.1 If Applicable: The contractor is to remove all carpet on stairs and on the second floor along with the padding in all high traffic areas to be replaced where needed and dispose of all materials off the USCG property at the contractor expense to an approved disposal site. 1.2 The contractor will repair or replace any damaged or loose tack strips as needed; inspect and repair the subfloor for any loose staples, screws, nails, and etc; identify and report any water, pet staining or odors, or any other abnormal damages that may cause further damage or odors to the USCG POC before continuing work. 1.3 All flooring will need to be cleaned of all loose debris, swept and/or vacuumed, before installing any new materials. 1.4 Install any needed rubber shims to level the carpet with any other flooring in use, and install transitions to areas connecting to different flooring materials. 1.5 Install stain resistant padding in the areas removed and carpet following the manufacturer’s recommendations. 1.6 If Applicable: Carpet installation on stairs is to be tucked. Laminate Flooring Install – 1.7 Contractor to remove all installed carpet and padding in the downstairs area of the home. 1.8 Contractor to remove all tack strips from old removed carpet. 1.9 Contractor will remove all tile flooring to include any old flooring that previously was installed on top of if applicable. 1.10 Contractor to take all lower level flooring down to subfloor level in areas to have laminate flooring installed. 1.11 Contractor will flush cut all flooring along back and side of kitchen floor cabinetry if cabinetry is set on top of existing flooring. All flooring removed will be without disturbing the kitchen cabinetry, flooring in kitchen area will remain along transition of kitchen entry in a clean cut manner with a transition strip to match flooring being installed if cabinetry is set on top of existing flooring. If able to lay flooring in kitchen without cabinetry disturbance then the flooring will be placed in kitchen as well. 1.12 Contractor is to fill any cracks found in subfloor work area and if necessary level sub-floor in preparation of new laminate flooring installation. 1.13 Contractor will use an underlayment to the specifications listed below for an extra noise and moisture barrier between the subfloor and the laminate floor to be installed. This will be provided by the contractor. 1.14 The specific flooring to be installed is indicated below under materials, this will be provided by the contractor. 1.15 All transition strip required through the unit will matched with the flooring installed. Minimal use of transitional strips is required per contract, if flooring can be floated through multiple rooms then install will be completed in this manner. 1.16 Install area is to include all alcoves, closets and other flooring areas in accordance with the POC guidance upon contractor’s walkthrough for accurate worksite measurements. 1.17 This flooring will not be installed in any rooms where Toilet or Shower facilities are present. This flooring will also not be placed in any utility rooms. Flooring in such spaces is to be properly separated with a transition strip to match the install floor coverings being placed by this contract. The laminate in restroom areas are not covered for upgrade or replacement in this contract
