US 730/5.2 Miles N of Oregon Border - Rockfall Prevention

STIP ID 573001J36 WSDOT's geotechnical division has identified this unstable slope as a potential hazard to the traveling public based on recorded vehicle/ rock collisions and repeated call-outs to remove rocks from the roadway. This project will remove loose rocks and install rock bolts and wire mesh. These measures will reduce the potential for collisions by minimizing the risk of rocks reaching the roadway. As of November 15, 2022, this project is in final planning status. Preliminary engineering has begun and environmental design completed in the second quarter of 2018. The contract advertisement is expected in fourth quarter of 2022 and construction is anticipated to be operationally complete in the fourth quarter of 2023.
