| Description | This project will construct a multi-use trail along Plant Atkinson Road from the former CSX rail line to Atlanta Road and then along Atlanta Road from Plant Atkinson Road to the bridge at the Chattahoochee River. In general, the trail will be 12-feet wide with a variable landscape buffer. This project is one of two trail extension projects needed to complete the Silver Comet Trail connection across Cobb County. The other project is being completed by the PATH Foundation and will extend the Silver Comet Trail along the abandoned CSX rail line to Plant Atkinson Road. On March 8, 2022, the Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted to allocate $1M of SPLOST collections to fund the project. Right-of-way acquisition began on November 3, 2021. This project is scheduled to be let for construction in the spring of 2023. |
