Description | The Contractor shall provide all necessary labor, supervision, equipment, tools, materials, supplies, transportation, permits, approvals, incidentals, bonds and certifications necessary to remove one scale deck, repair the headwall and sidewalls of the approach end of the scale pit on the Southbound side. Weighbridge/Scale deck removal and reinstallation shall involve crane operations (2) times within the scope of this project, once to lift and remove the Weighbridge/Scale deck and again to reinstall the Weighbridge/Scale deck. The Contactor shall provide the crane (60 Ton), all the necessary rigging and equipment, and personnel for this operation. The Contractor shall remove the Weighbridge/Scale deck off the load points and out of the foundation. This shall include removal of all associated parts, and assemblies. The Weighbridge/Scale deck shall be placed on blocks capable of supporting the deck weight (28000#). The Weighbridge/Scale deck shall be placed at a height allowing access to the underside and be workable and accessible from all sides. Removal and reinstallation of Weighbridge/Scale deck must be coordinated with Department of Motor Vehicles, Truck Weigh Technical Services section. After headwall repairs are completed, the Contractor shall place the Weighbridge/Scale deck back in the pit in reverse order back onto its load points and into the foundation. The Contractor shall be responsible for all demolition of existing walls, disposal of all debris material, all labor and material necessary for repairs and safety requirements needed to complete the repair or project. The Contractor shall remove all damaged material from damaged headwall of the approach end of the existing pit walls, this shall include material from the left and right of existing side walls at least 36 inches back and all material from headwall and sidewalls is to be removed to a depth of 18 inches minimum. The Contractor shall be responsible for all pit coping or armorer edging steel replacement for headwall and sidewall, this edging armor or pit coping shall be configured to match the pit coping that is removed. It shall be replicated to match that which is removed. The Contractor is responsible for correct and proper placement of all steel needed for completion of this project and replacement is to be within +/- 1/16th of an inch when completed. All replacement steel is to be pre-painted with a standard industrial A-B epoxy paint mix in a gray color.After demolition, the Contractor is required to attach all new repairs by doweling into the existing headwalls and sidewalls. The dowels shall be placed starting off the centerline of the pit spaced and set five (5) inches off the center line on either side than will continue along the headwall and down the sidewalls at a set-spacing of ten (10) inches apart. The dowels shall be doubled. All dowels must be placed by drilling existing walls to the correct spacing and to a depth of three (3) inches to no more than four (4) inches. The dowels shall be secured in place by a comparable epoxy product made for this type of application. The dowels shall have a concrete coverage of two point five (2.5) inches and no more than three (3) inches of concrete. The dowels shall be made from number three (3) rebar and must be epoxy coated. |
