Description | As of March 22 the project was awarded to M D Thomas Construction LLC for $695,597.05. The damaged facilities to be repaired under the FEMA project include timber boardwalk, timber landscape walls, concrete curb and gutter, asphalt pavement, sand backfill, metal barrier fencing, electrical wiring and conduit, lighting, irrigation, and all incidental work as outlined in the bid documents. The expansion project includes timber boardwalk, timber landscape walls, curb ramps, riprap, bollards, grading, landscaping, pile cap repairs and all incidental work as outlined in the bid documents. The Contractor shall provide all labor, machinery, and materials as per specifications to complete all work as listed in the bid documents. Minority and women's business enterprises are solicited to bid on this contract as prime contractors and are encouraged to make inquiries regarding potential subcontracting opportunities and equipment, material and/or supply needs. Bids in excess of Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000) must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond payable to the City of Orange Beach in an amount not less than 5% of the bid amount, but in no event more than $10,000. Performance and Labor and Material Payment Bonds will be required from the Contractor. The Contractor will be required to obtain a business license from the City to operate within the Corporate Limits. Work will begin in accordance with the Notice to Proceed with work completed within ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY (120) WORKING DAYS once commenced. Liquidated damages shall be assessed as outlined in the bid documents. Bids must be submitted on Proposal Forms furnished by the City of Orange Beach or copies thereof. All Bidders bidding in amounts exceeding $50,000 must be licensed under the provision of Title 34, Chapter 8, Code of Alabama 1975. Any contractor that desires to bid as a prime contractor must have one of the following classifications of license per Section 230-X-.27 of the State of Alabama Licensing Board for General Contractors Administrative Code before a contract is to be awarded: a.) Highways & Streets b.) Municipal & Utility c.) Heavy / Railroad The total amount of uncompleted work under contract to a contractor must not exceed the amount of his or her qualification certificate. Out of state corporations shall furnish a certificate of authority to transact business in Alabama. Out of state limited liability companies shall provide proof of registration to transact business in this state2 All bidders must comply with Section 31-13-9, Code of Alabama 1975. Be advised that overnight delivery by express or courier to Orange Beach is not guaranteed. The City of Orange Beach reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive technical or legal deficiencies, to re-bid, and to accept any bid that it may deem to be in the best interest of the City. |
