Description | Required for DCAMM contracts over $150,000, Highway Division contracts over $50,000. No prebid meeting. Prev Wage Required. Prequal Category for MassDOT is Bridge Culvert. Project is partially funded by MVP Grant and must be completed by Sept 30, 2022. Project is being bid by Franklin Regional Council of Governments on behalf of the Town Description: The Town of Ashfield Highway Department proposes to replace an undersized culvert at the Baptist Corner Road crossing of an unnamed tributary to the Bear River. This culvert requires replacement due to deteriorating structural integrity and insufficient flow capacity. The existing culvert causes scour, impacts stream passage and creates a barrier to both aquatic and terrestrial wildlife passage. The proposed replacement of the culvert will greatly enhance wildlife passage, habitat connectivity and will fully meet the Massachusetts Stream Crossing Standards. The stream crossing upgrade will improve flows hydraulically (providing a 1.2 times bankful width span), increase flood storage, improve water quality, and restore the natural stream flow, enhancing wildlife habitat and flood protection functions. The natural substrate will be a mix of finer natural streambed materials, rounded cobbles and large boulders excavated from the historical original stream bed and augmented with outside supplied material designed to match existing stream conditions. Streambed materials will be set on top of a material base of larger stone to provide scour prevention. The proposed replacement culvert is a 19' by 4' precast three-sided structure set on inverted T precast stem walls/foundations with prefabricated segmental precast concrete wingwalls. There is no Prebid meeting for this project. Bidders may visit the site or send written questions which will be answered in consultation between the Engineer, Highway Superintendent and FRCOG . |
