The project goal is to provide much needed indoor storage capacity and outdoor freight handling capacity as well as improve safety and reliability to the expanding needs of the Albany Port. One proponent of this project is the rehabilitation of a maritime shed. Shed #1 is a 60,000 square foot warehouse. It is the oldest building at the Port terminal, constructed circa 1930s. A portion of the Easterly side of the warehouse is cantilevered over the water /docking area. The reinforced concrete slab portion that is cantilevered over the water has a reputed load rating capacity of 500 pounds per square foot. The remainder of the concrete slab on grade within storage Shed #1 has a reputed load capacity of 750 psf. After obtaining an engineering study on the building to determine need and best course of action the rehabilitation of the warehouse, track repairs and terminal enhancements was determined to be the best path forward. The Maritime Shed Building is a 500 foot long by 12 foot wide by 31 foot tall high by steel structure. There is an elevated loading dock along the west elevation. The building abuts the Hudson River along the east side is partially supported on a 40-foot-wide reinforced concrete wharf. The building's envelope is comprised of corrugated metal siding and a built-up roof system adhered to timber plank decking. There are (12) 14-foot-tall overhead doors on both the east and west elevations, (1) 12 foot and (1) 14-foot-tall overhead doors on the north elevation and (2) 12-foot-tall overhead doors on the south elevation. There is a single-story masonry block structure in the southwest corner of the shed which houses the Longshoreman's break room and restroom facilities. The concrete floor in Shed #1 exhibits deterioration including several fracture cracks that have propagated through the floor and numerous spalled areas. The Albany Port District Commission (APDC) is seeking to engage the services of a responsible and responsive contractor to perform the necessary repairs as described in the Scope of Work section of this document. *Maritime Shed #1 is located at 109 Smith Boulevard, in the City of Albany, in the existing port district.* _0% SDVOB |
