Description

Street castings: 1. Shall be heavy-duty; heavy-duty is defined as a frame and cover that can withstand a large volume of vehicle traffic (H-22 loading). Sidewalk castings (H-20 loading) shall be for light traffic. 2. Dimensions and treads shall be provided as shown on the attached drawings. 3. Iron Frames and covers shall be constructed of gray or ductile iron conforming to ASTM A-48 and A-536. Frames and covers shall have machine bearing surfaces to prevent rocking rattling under traffic. Bolted manhole covers shall be bolted and waterproof,
