Conversion of Reception Desk to Work Room at Marshville Library

Qualified companies for the removal and proper disposal of the existing circulations desk and necessary carpet, as well as, constructing walls for a new work room at Lois Morgan Edwards Memorial Library in Marshville. 1. Remove existing circulation desk and counter top as shown on the sketches. This desk shall be turned over to Union County Facilities. 2. Remove carpet only as required for the construction of the new walls. 3. Construct (2) metal stud and 5/8” gypsum board walls as shown on the attached sketches. Gypsum board shall be on both sides of the studs. 4. The existing wood columns and beam shall remain exposed. The diagonal bracing shall be covered. 5. The walls shall be finished and painted to match existing adjacent conditions. 6. Provide a new metal door frame then the existing door leading to the existing work room shall be relocated to the new wall as shown on the sketches. A new door shall be provided and installed in the existing frame into the existing work room. The new door shall have a half window and shall match the existing door’s finish and color. 7. Union County will provide a “book drop” that will be installed by the contractor with all required framing in the wall as shown on the sketch. 8. Provide and install a wall outlet in each wall as shown on the sketches. 9. The wall facing the main library area shall have a 2’-0” x 5’-0” window and shall be framed and installed by the contractor. (1-way glass) 10. The wooden base board shall be continued around the base of both walls on the library and reception side and shall be cut and finished to match existing. 11. Relocate the ceiling lights from the existing work room into the existing branch manager’s office as shown on the sketches. Rewire the switches so that the manager’s office will be switched individually and will no longer be tied in with the existing three-way switching.
