Description | The purpose of this project is to perform capital maintenance work on several streets in the City of Dodges City. The Contractor will be determined by the proposed volume of Mastic crack sealant on the Proposal form. Generally, the type and location of the work is as follows: Mastic Sealant shall be applied to as many streets as possible in a general area of town north of Wyatt Earp Blvd, south of US50 Highway and east of Central Avenue (Maintenance Zone #3). City staff will work with the contractor to prioritize streets to receive mastic. Approved Mastic Sealants: Mastic One Crafco Gap Mastic B Maxwell Products Any option in the Manufacturer's Material Application Instructions in regards to Routing or Milling shall not be required. All project areas receiving patchwork are of sufficient thickness and preclude the need for routing or milling. If during the project, both the contractor and the owner agree that routing or milling is required, it shall be the contractor's responsibility to provide for routing or milling. Dirt and debris generated while preparing the roadway surface for the Mastic shall be swept up by the contractor and removed from the roadway and gutter. Dirt and debris blown or swept onto adjacent sidewalks, driveways, and yards shall be removed by the contractor at the end of each day. The Contractor shall be responsible for all traffic control for the work required, and follow the standard set forth in the MUTCD 2009 manual. Contractor shall have all necessary equipment to perform and complete the Mastic Patchwork Project. All cracks shall be cleaned with high pressure air heat lance before the Mastic is added. All visible cracks shall be cleaned and sealed. Care shall be taken not to allow dust or debris from cleaning to contaminate previously cleaned cracks. All dust and debris blown into driveways and sidewalks shall be cleaned by the contractor. Excessive sealant on the pavement surface will not be allowed. The pavement shall not be wet or damp when applying sealant. Traffic will not be allowed on the new sealant until it is dry enough that it will not track. Intersections or other areas that must carry traffic may require that the sealant be covered with fine sand/powder. *Sealant will not be reheated except as allowed by supplier's instructions. The application of mastic shall follow all the manufacturers recommended procedures. The Contractor shall specify on his Proposal form when he intends to begin work on this project. The Contractor will have 45 calendar days or until July 13th , 2023 to complete the work, whichever is earlier. The City will start counting calendar days on the Contractor's indicated start date. The Contractor is specifically reminded of the liquidated damages provisions found in STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS. Quantities shall be paid for at the contract unit price for each bid item.
