Description

Reference No:0000318547 The City and County of Broomfield (CCOB or Broomfield) is soliciting "PDRC Pool Hardscape Design and Construction statements of qualification from design-build contractors to provide design, removal and replacement construction services for the faux rock/hardscape features at the Paul Derda Recreation Center. The PDRC, located at 13201 Lowell Boulevard, was originally built in 2003. The purpose of this RFQ is to establish a short list of one or more qualified contractors to propose on the future RFP for the project. The CCOB may only prequalify one contractor and proceed without an RFP process. If two or more contractors are prequalified, only design-builders placed on the Prequalified List will be solicited and allowed to submit proposals. Quesons regarding this Request for Qualificaons should be directed to Brian Graham (bgraham@broomfield.org), prior to the 11:00 a.m. MDT, Thursday, May 11, 2023 deadline The exisng faux rock at the Paul Derda Recreaon Center natatorium was installed in 2003, at the me of the facility's original construcon. The rock features have shown signs of increasing deterioraon and three incorporated waterfall features were decommissioned years ago. The rock features provide funconal benefits in addion to providing an important and unique aesthec. The City and County of Broomfield's Parks, Recreaon and Senior Services Department would like to improve this facility to support this important recreaon acvity. The City and County of Broomfield (CCOB or Broomfield) is solicing "PDRC Pool Hardscape Design and Construcon statements of qualificaon from design-build contractors to provide design, removal and replacement construcon services for the faux rock/ hardscape features at the Paul Derda Recreaon Center. The PDRC, located at 13201 Lowell Boulevard, was originally built in 2003. Broomfield desires to work with a design-build contractor to develop a design for the replacement of the exisng faux rock that accomplishes the following objecves: 1. Maintain the unique Colorado look and feel of the facility that is established by the faux rock features. 2. Increase facility monitor and lifeguard visibility behind the rock structures. 3. Re-establish the waterfall features. 4. Improve plumbing access for maintenance and repairs. 5. Considers value-engineering and design with a focus on cost efficiency. For example, the less visible back side of the faux rock may not require the same level of sculpng and rock-like appearance as the front side. 6. Focus on design and construcon techniques that will minimize maintenance costs and offer prolonged longevity of the rock features that will delay future replacement. 7. Ulize design and construcon techniques that minimize construcon melines and facility closure. The successful team will provide all services necessary for this project, including, but not limited to: 1. Engineering and design, including collaboraon with CCOB staff on a design that meets the above objecves. Construcon documents stamped by a Colorado Engineer will ulmately be required to obtain a Building Permit. The Building Permit is ancipated to require stamped inspecon report(s) by the design engineer to be prepared during construcon. 2. Construcon services, including demolion and removal of exisng faux rock and installaon of new rock features and any associated repairs. The scope of work may also include repainng/refreshing other rock work that is not structurally deteriorang and minor concrete repairs and concrete sealing on the stairs and plaorms leading to the slides. The purpose of this RFQ is to establish a short list of one or more of the most qualified contractors to propose on a future RFP for the project. The CCOB may only prequalify one contractor and proceed without an RFP process. If two or more contractors are prequalified, only design-builders placed on the Prequalified List will be solicited and allowed to submit proposals.
