Description | To provide/supply, haul, place, and roll hot mix asphalt on various streets, roads, sidewalks and parking lots. The successful Bidder shall supply/provide hot mix asphalt in-place on various streets, roads, sidewalks and parking lots, per the following requirements: 1. The hot mix asphalt shall be "Hot Mix Asphalt - HMA” mix that meets Section 401 of the MDOT standard specifications. HMA shall be furnished, hauled and placed by the successful Bidder. The asphalt binder used shall be performance graded as PG64 -28. 2. The successful Bidder shall furnish the City with test results for each 1,000 tons placed. Analyses shall include gradations, asphalt content, and theoretical maximum density. At the request of the City, mat density shall be tested at City expense. All test results shall be within the allowable tolerances given in section 400 of the most recent edition of the MDOT Standard Specifications using Method D. 3. The successful bidder shall provide a minimum of two rollers. The primary or breakdown roller shall be a 10 ton tandem vibratory with high and low amplitude settings with variable frequencies up to 3,400 vibrations per minute. A pneumatic roller shall be required by the City when uneven surface conditions warrant use of one. All rollers used shall meet the requirements of the most recent edition of the MDOT Standard Specification, section 401.10. The finish roller shall be 10 ton being either a tandem vibratory roller operated in the static mode or a static tandem steel drum roller. 4. Breakdown rolling shall be done when the mix is at optimum temperature between 285°F – 300°F. There shall be no rolling of the mix between 200 – 250°F unless a pneumatic roller of at least 12.5 tons is used. Finish rolling shall be done when the mix is between 120°F -170°F. 5. Batch and Drum Plants used to produce mix for this project shall meet the requirements of the most recent edition of the MDOT Standard Specifications, section 401.07. |
