Description | VGLZ 112021 REPAIR BUILDING 140 FOR MXG: The ultimate objective is to provide a complete and usable facility to house the 127 MXG Command/ Administration and the Maintenance Operations Flight (MOF) while meeting all applicable codes and regulations including Department of Defense (DoD) Antiterrorism/ Force Protection requirements and Air Force Instruction (AFI) 32-7065. This project will include the repair of supporting utilities, infrastructure, communications, fire protection, and site improvements. The 8,001 square foot Building 140 was built in 1934 and is eligible to be on the National Register of Historical Properties. The comprehensive repair by renovation will also provide for the complete replacement of the building’s fire annunciation system which will include the provision of a Simplex Fire Alarm System. The incorporation of the Simplex Fire Alarm System for the subject project is required for the following reasons: The existing base-wide Simplex Fire Alarm System Monitoring shall tie into this new fire alarm and mass notification system. Simplex programming logic is a specific protocol language and is not accessible to other manufacturers of fire alarm system. Additional (estimated) costs will be associated to establish a second fire alarm system on the installation. A second system would be required on base to report to the base fire station and security forces control center. This additional cost would equate to $100,000. Further costs would be incurred to physically reconfigure both the fire station alarm room and security forces control center to make space for the second fire alarm head end. Costs associated to physically reconfigure the space amount to $10,000 (estimated). Lastly, training cost in the amount of $50,000 ( estimated) would be required to send base maintenance staff to manufacturer specific training on maintenance and programming. These training costs would be avoided as maintenance staff are currently trained to troubleshoot and maintain the existing Simplex Fire Alarm system. |
