GMP Generator and HVAC Upgrades

This project will upgrade portions of the mechanical and electrical system of the Good Manufacturing Process (GMP) Facility. The existing emergency generator will be replaced to accommodate increased capacity along with a new switchgear and site changes for generator protection. Also, to meet FDA requirements, new humidity and temperature-controlled roof top HVAC units are needed for the cleanroom environment. The scope includes the installation of a new 100kW generator, new generator pad, bollards, and associated switch gear for operation. Also included is HVAC units to maintain temperature and humidity controls for clean room environments based upon recently updated FDA requirements. Structural framing may be required to support the new units. The need for the larger emergency generator is related to bringing POD 4 online, adding additional loads currently not on emergency power, and emergency power to control the facilities relative humidity with new rooftop units. The units will need to be located on the emergency power supply. Best practices for cleanroom design require a temperature of 62 deg F and a humidity range of 35-55%. Given the amount of warm, moisture-laden ambient Memphis air being introduced to the existing facility, the means to achieve these requirements is using customized air handlers with deeper cooling coils and with desiccant dehumidifiers.
