SALE TYPE: Mill Scale per Unit (TON) Standing Timber Sale, no SMZs, low metal contamination risk Sale three (3) items of standing timber on approximately 225.4 acres within twelve (12) separate blocks at Fort Pickett Military Installation: Sale areas are located primarily south of U.S. Rt. 40, with Blocks K & L being north of Rt. 40 along CR 642 (Zilles Rd.) Blocks A through E are south of the Nottaway River in Brunswick Co. and Blocks F through J are north of the river and east of VA 46 in Nottoway Co. The exterior timber harvest area boundaries and streamside management zones (SMZ's) are clearly marked with vertical strips of blue paint with the exception where directly adjacent to natural geographic features such as gravel roads edges, open fields, and other natural features. Any streamside management zones (SMZ’s) are outside of harvest block boundaries. All timber contained within the defined sale area boundaries for harvest is designated standing timber within. Harvest operations and associated work shall comply with the State of Virginia Forestry Best Management Practices for Water Quality. No trees will be harvested within the SMZs. Standing timber herein is located within maneuver areas 47 & 48 and are of low military use areas, all indications are that metal contamination will be negligible, if any.
