Description

The existing chiller system servicing the walk-in freezer located inside the Barry Fisher Building (BFB – see Figure 2.1) is way past its designed service life and has been exposed to the marine environment of its coastal location outside since installation. The aluminum cooling fins have deteriorated and the copper tubing is developing leaks. The dis-similar metal of aluminum fin with copper tubing located in the coastal marine air have contributed to the advanced corrosion problems and shortened lifespan. The interior air handling unit appears to be working fine. However, the contractor shall replace the entire chiller system (e.g., condenser, air-handling unit, associated piping, controls, temperature sensors and readout, etc.).
