Description | Provides treatment and support services to people with mental health challenges and substance use disorders and assists individuals who live with intellectual and developmental disabilities. DBHDD six (6) hospital locations across the State of Georgia The hospital locations are as follows: Central State Hospital (CSH), located in Milledgeville, opened in 1842 as Georgia’s first public psychiatric hospital. CSH services include psychiatric evaluation; treatment and recovery services for persons referred from various components of the state’s criminal justice and corrections systems (Forensic Services); and staff-supervised residential homes in the community serving individuals with behavioral health disorders (Central Care Community Services). East Central Regional Hospital (ECRH) has two campuses: Gracewood, established in 1921; and Augusta, established in 1969. On July 1, 2003, these two previously separate facilities officially consolidated and became ECRH. The facilities serve DBHDD’s 33-county East Central Region (Region 2). The 420-acre Gracewood campus provides services for people living with the developmental disabilities in both an ICF-MR and a skilled nursing facility setting. The 310-acre Augusta campus provides mental health and forensic services. Each campus includes living areas, activity areas, administrative buildings and support buildings. ECRH currently employs approximately 1,400 staff and is owned and governed by DBHDD. It is accredited by The Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations under standards for Hospital, Behavioral Health, Laboratory, and Long-Term Care. Georgia Regional Hospital Atlanta (GRHA) is located on 174 acres in DeKalb County. GRHA operates 306 licensed, accredited inpatient beds for three major program areas: 1) Adult Mental Health, 2) Adult Forensic Services, and 3) Developmental Disabilities/Skilled Nursing. GRHA offers inpatient adult mental health services, inpatient habilitation services and forensic program services to residents of the following counties: Adult Mental Health Services: DeKalb, Fulton, Clayton, Gwinnett, Newton and Rockdale Counties.
