Description

The City is seeking proposals from qualified firms, experienced in the installation of residential and commercial water meters located at each customers property for measuring potable water usage. The work will primarily involve the replacement of about 1,977 residential meters sized 5/8" x 3/4" as well as a few larger sized meters. The work is required to be completed by an Illinois licensed plumber. The contractor shall be paid in cash for the work to be performed on this project. Bid proposals must be submitted on the forms provided. Only contractors that have been authorized by the Hancock Engineering Company, the City Engineer will be allowed to submit proposals No bid shall be withdrawn after the opening of the proposals without the consent of the Mayor and City Council of the City of Hometown for a period of 30 days after the scheduled time of closing bids. The successful bidder will be required to file performance/payment bonds equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the bid, with sureties to be approved by the Mayor and City Council, which performance/payment bonds shall be conditioned upon proper and faithful performance by the Contractor of work specified in accordance with the specification therefore, according to the time and terms and conditions of the contract; and also that the bidder and contractor shall properly pay all debts incurred by the Contractor in the execution of the work, including those for labor and materials furnished. The Contractor shall be required to furnish sufficient insurance or guaranty of indemnity to the City of Hometown, Illinois, the County of Cook, Illinois, and the Engineer, the Edwin Hancock Engineering Company against any and all claims which might arise for damages to persons or property due to the negligence of the Contractor or Subcontractors, or their officers, agents, employees or servants, during the construction of said improvement and until the said improvement has been finally accepted as complete by the City Council of the City of Hometown, Illinois. The Contractor and Subcontractor shall comply with all regulations issued pursuant to Prevailing Wage Act (820 ILCS 130), and other applicable Federal Laws and regulations pertaining to labor standards. The City of Hometown reserves the rights to determine the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder, to waive irregularities, and to reject any or all bid proposals.
