Description

Newport Township Commissioners will consider the bids for award at the regular monthly meeting of Commissioners scheduled for 6:00 P.M., Monday, August 1, 2022 at the above-noted location. Brief description of work: Provide maintenance and protection of traffic, PA DOT #2A Stone Backfill, storm system drainage work, roadway reconstruction and/or paving work, and restoration of disturbed areas. Provide protection of existing utilities including any necessary shoring of utilities and holding of utility poles, resetting of all traffic signs as required, pavement sawcutting, stone pipe bedding, Class 4 Geotextile at trenches, all excavation work (not identified as a specific pay item), erosion and sediment control measures, fittings for adjustment of existing laterals, bypass pumping, etc. at an incidental cost to the project. Project locations: Fair Lane, Rear Center Street, Wanamie parking lot and Wanamie Tennis & Basketball Courts BIDS are invited for the Pave, Drainage and Recreation Improvements Project. Briefly, the work includes the construction of approximately 1,180 feet of 15" SLCPP Storm Line and 12 storm inlets along Fair Lane and Rear Center Street, with local road pave trench restoration with 6" of Subbase; 3" of Superpave Base Course, 25mm WMA; 4" of full-width roadway milling, 21/2" of Superpave Binder Course, 19mm WMA and 11/2" of Superpave Wearing Course, 9.5mm WMA, entire milling and paving at Wanamie Recreation Parking Lot, improvements and resurfacing of existing basketball courts and tennis courts, removal and installation of approximately 444 LF of 12' high chainlink fence with single swing gates, construction of a new pickleball court, and miscellaneous work, all as provided for within the contract documents, bid form and on the project drawings. The bid will also include an alternate for total pave replacement, which will eliminate the trench restoration and the base repair at Fair Lane and Rear Center Street ONLY PLAN HOLDERS THAT ARE ON FILE AT THE OFFICE OF THE ENGINEER SHALL BE CONSIDERED RESPONSIBLE BIDDERS. BID SECURITY in the amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the total bid shall be submitted with each bid, in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders. Performance, Payment, and Maintenance Bonds are required by the successful bidder for each contract. Prospective bidders are urged to familiarize themselves with the site and review the scope of work and construction documents. Any contractor, who does not do so and submits a bid, does so at his own risk. This Project was financed in-part by a grant established under the American Rescue Plan Act for COVID-19 ARPA Local Fiscal Recovery Fund for Non-Entitlement Units (NEUs) that was disbursed by the PA Treasury Department through the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Community and Economic Development and all requirements of these Agencies are to be met by the Bidders. The bidder's attention is called to the fact that the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act and the Pennsylvania Public Works Employment Verification Act apply to this Contract if the estimated cost of the project is in excess of $25,000.
