Description | As of 7/19/2023, owner has determined a shortlist of Design Builders for interview. Demolish Johnstone Hall, Harcomb Dining Hall, Student Union, and Facilities Yard. Fill, grade, and finish the sites. Project Location: CU Main Campus Construction Cost Range: $10,000,000 to $14,000,000 *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. Deadline for written questions 5/17/23 The Johnstone Hall and Facilities Maintenance areas on Clemson Universitys campus have served the University for generations and are now slated to be demolished. Due to the scale of this demolition project and proximity to campus life, prior to commencement of work in these project areas, the University has requested Land Planning Associates, Inc. update the project narrative to communicate design intent, utility relocation/termination along with other requirements that pertain to the demolition project. Details examined included timing, safety, impact to campus daily operations, environmental impacts, salvage of materials, demolition and re-routing of utilities, postdemolition/interim site use, budget, and schedule. The potential impact to daily operations of students, faculty, and staff of the University occupying the surrounding areas of the project sites is high, making delicate consideration of all relevant parties critical to minimizing disturbance to these groups during this project. With the key information gathered from relevant departments and groups as a guiding principle, conceptual plans for demolition, interim site/grading, and utility demolition/re-routing have been developed for the Johnstone Demolition and Facilities Demolition sites. It should be noted that although this narrative covers both scopes of work, Johnstone Demolition and Facilities Demolition will most likely be carried out in two separate timelines. |
