Description

As of June 2023, the project is in schematic design and construction documents are expected to be complete in the spring of 2024. Construction is expected to begin in the summer of 2025. Closed solicitation has been included below for reference. .......... The project generally includes design and creation of construction bid documents for a 2.5-mile long multi-use pathway for bicyclists and pedestrians adjacent to an existing, functional rail line. Design and bid documents must comply with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) and various permitting agencies. The project plans and specifications will be split into two distinct projects and bid packages for future bidding and permitting phases. The design and environmental services contract is estimated at $3,900,000 with two sets of final plans, specifications, and environmental clearance anticipated to be complete by early 2022. Construction is expected to take approximately two years and is estimated at $23,000,000. Construction is currently not funded. Note: The selection of a firm to provide the described scope of services will not be made on cost but based on the consideration of qualifications-related factors contained in this Request for Qualifications. The City of Santa Cruz reserves the right to reject any and all bids and waive any irregularity or minor defects in any proposal received. The City and County of Santa Cruz are soliciting Statement of Qualifications (SOQ's) from qualified firms that will perform the design, engineering, final plans, specifications, and estimate, and environmental permitting for the Monterey Bay Sanctuary Scenic Trail (MBSST) Segment 8 and 9 (Pacific Ave. to 17th Ave). The City of Santa is taking the lead on soliciting for project proposals and will be working closely with County Public Works staff. The project is both state and federally funded, with a 32% local match. Note that this project has a DBE goal of 18%. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
