Description | This project consists of the following Scope: Rehabilitate five (5) stop gates by replacing the leaf springs, bolt bars, seals and bolts. These stop gates are currently stacked outside on the west side of the Pumphouse. Remove the existing paint system from the same five (5) stop gates by using abrasive blasting techniques, and repaint in a shop environment. Once the stop gates are rehabilitated and back on site, using Contractor-supplied equipment, move the Government-owned stop gates into the upstream (River) side stop gate slots. Stop gates only need to be in place in the slots for one gate at a time. Disassemble and remove the Limitorque actuators and lifting mechanism above each of two existing canal gates, located within the Hurricane Barrier Pumphouse, one at a time. Work includes disconnecting and removing all operating machinery and support structures necessary for the removal of the canal gates. Operating equipment includes the motor, Limitorque gearbox, Rodney Hunt control arms, stems and covers, and all electrical and mechanical connections. Disassemble and remove each gate, one at a time. The Contractor will need to construct their own lifting device. Rehabilitate the canal gates by removing old paint, using abrasive blasting, and then applying new primer and top coats. Old paint is assumed to be lead-containing. Also remove and replace side wheels, shafts, bearing blocks, key plates, seal compression bars and rubber P-seals from the two canal gates. Bring refurbished gates back to the Barrier and install using a Contractor-supplied crane. This step includes connecting the hoisting stems and drive machinery. Contractor shall connect canal gates to stems, drive nuts on stems, lifting arm assemblies, Limitorque gear and operator motor. Testing and calibration of electronic monitoring and control shall also be included. Contractor shall have a Limitorque representative on hand during the installation of the Limitorque lifting equipment in order to verify installation and adjustment of the Limitorque actuators. An inspection of the completed gates and system is required by a qualified Limitorque Service Technician. Once both gates are back in position, and have been adjusted and tested, Contractor shall move stop gates out of the stop gate slots and back into their storage location using Contractor-supplied equipment. |
