The access road will be a permanent installation with little or no future maintenance. Work pads will be required at each pole location. Erosion and sediment controls are required, and locations will be determined by the Contractor and the designated HG&E person to properly protect surrounding resources and/or structures. Other requirements may be required based upon permits submitted to local and State authorities. Gravel will be installed with a minimum depth of six inches with a non-woven geotextile fabric underneath that allows water to pass for adequate drainage and not allow vegetation to flourish within the access road. Additional base material will be required for soft conditions and steep grade changes. Stumps will be cut down as low as practical but will remain in place to minimize erosion except as necessary for work pads, etc. A retaining wall may be necessary along the hillside parallel to the existing buildings to eliminate the possibility of erosion due to the loss of flora in the area. Rip-rap slope protection or straw erosion netting will be installed for steep slopes. The right-of-way has already been cleared to the surveyed edges. Any vegetation management conducted by the contractor will be completed using the low impact tree clearing techniques following ANSI A-300, ANSI Z133, ORTM 030, and OSHA 29CFR 1910.269 standards. |
