Description | In general, the work on this project consists of major maintenance upgrades at an existing wastewater treatment plant known as the "Edgewater Water Pollution Control Facility" for Bergen County Utilities Authority located in Edgewater Township, New Jersey. Questions Due Date: Aug 11th 2022, 2:00 PM EDT DESCRIPTION OF WORK A. The Contractors work on this project consists of the following major components of work: 1. Improvements to the existing UNOX Aeration system shall be paid for under the lump sum bid items "Agitator Repairs UNOX Train #1 and Agitator Repairs UNOX Train #2" and shall include but is not limited to all labor, materials, and equipment to complete the following: a. Electrically disconnect agitator motors, mechanically decouple agitator drives and impeller shafts, block impeller shafts in place, lift and remove drive assembly to staging point/truck. Lift agitator shafts out of mix tanks, place on supports so that lower impellers can be removed, clean agitator shafts and impellers. b. The Contractor is responsible for construction of support systems to suspend the fully loaded aerator shafts in a level position for inspection by the Owner and Engineer during disassembly. There shall be supports at each end of the shaft. The supports shall provide a minimum clearance of 12 inches from the end of an impeller to the existing grade. The number of supports to be constructed shall be as needed for completion of the aerator work. The Contractor shall consecutively remove all three mixing systems per train to complete the project efficiently. The Contractor shall provide detailed support system design plans to the Engineer for approval. The design shall include the dead loads and wind loads on the fully loaded shaft assembly in accordance with IBC 2018 requirements. The total dead load of each assembly is approximately 7000 pounds. The support structure shall be anchored to the ground or be ballasted to provide a stable structure and prevent overturning. The structure may be constructed of steel or wood framing. All proposed wood shall be pressure treated. c. Replace lower impellers, bearings, and seals. Parts to be provided by BCUA. d. After both train #1 and train #2 grit removal and tank cleaning are completed, lift agitator shaft into mix tanks and block in place, lift and move agitator assembly onto mix tanks, mechanically re-couple agitator drives and impeller shaft, remove blocking, lower assembly into tank, and bolt agitator to support structure. e. Electronically reconnect agitator motor. Perform operational testing per the Manufacturer's O&M manual. |
