Garrett County Airport West Apron Construction Project

The Project will entail the construction of approximately 10,100 square yards of asphalt aircraft parking apron on the northwest side of the airfield. As part of this project, temporary erosion and sediment controls will be installed to mitigate the temporary runoff created by over 250,000 cubic yards of excavation to prepare the subgrade for the proposed pavement section. Also included will be the construction of an open and closed drainage system conveying site runoff to a new Stormwater Management Pond required to mitigate runoff from the site for all future impervious development and the construction of the proposed pavement section; which will consist of a course aggregate base and asphalt surface course. The finished pavement surface will be striped with surface painted markings to allow for the safe maneuvering of aircraft in this area. New apron edge lighting will be installed adjacent to the proposed apron and power will be provided to a new L-807 Primary Wind Cone to be installed on the south side of the existing Runway. The excess excavation material from this project is to remain on airport property and placed and compacted on the south side of the Runway.
